The VENONA Project (Part 2)

Continuing off from before:
The VENONA Project was so secretive that not even presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman knew about it. But this project was of extreme importance during the beginning of the cold war. Most of the decoders were also female.
The project was initiated in 1943 by the orders of Carter Clarke, deputy Chief of military intelligence. As I've said before this was done because of the fear of a treaty between the Soviet Union (SN) and the 3rd Reich (Nazi Germany).
The messages were highly encrypted so they needed many decoders. After the first code break they found many signs of Soviet espionage. They had set up spies in the US, Canada(!!!), Australia and the UK. Many of the famous spies were Klaus Fuchs, Alan Nunn May and Donald Maclean.
Although it was terminated in 1980, materials about the actual project was not revealed until 1995 when senator Daniel Moynihan, the chairman of the Commission on Government Secrecy decided it was time.

The VENONA Project(part 1)

I somehow randomly got a thought about this. I do not know how I thought of it, but I went on the internet and searched for it. I got a result from Wikipedia and decided to do this post on it. BTW, Wikipedia means wiki and -pedia(you can actually search Wikipedia on Wikipedia. Wiki is a Hawaiian word meaning quick and -pedia from encyclopedia.

The VENONA project was a secret collaboration of intelligence agencies between the US and the UK. They specialized in decrypting/decoding secret messages sent by the Soviet Union(basically Russia) for the US and UK feared of an alliance between them and Germany). This project was first started during WWII. There were minimally 13 code words that were used between the US and UK and VENONA was the last of them(it had no actual meaning). The project was terminated during 1980.

WE ARE CLOSE TO 750 VIEWS :O

OMG OMG we are close to 750 views :D
LIKE A BAU5

MW3 or Battleshi-- Battlefield 3?

Well, we have been having an ongoing debate on whether Modern Warfare 3, the 8th installment in the Call of Duty franchise is better than Battleshi--Battlefield 3. I know, I know, I'm showing a lot of personal bias here, but seriously? You can't compare Battlefield to Call of Duty. THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT GAMES! Battlefield focuses on gameplay that involves working with your team mates more often. Whereas, in Call of Duty, the gameplay focuses on the sole player, in that they are giving the player customizable abilities that suit their gameplay style. Also, in Battlefield, from a gamer's point of view, the multiplayer maps are just too big. For people who are used to playing Call of Duty, and somehow ended up trying to play the beta, (kof* Me and Yueyang kof*) it's very hard to find a person in the map. And when you do, they end up killing you before you get a chance to kill them. In Call of Duty however, maps are just the right sizes for any weapon you choose to use.

In Call of Duty, there are many things that allow players to make themselves "pro" at the game. For example, quick scoping makes you feel like a bau5 when you do it, because mostly, that's what Major League Gamers do. (YES THERE IS AN MLG LEAGUE IN THE WORLD, OKAY?!) But in Battlefield, all you do is run around a gigantic map with all this equipment that you don't get to use. Coming from my point of view, as i have played both franchises, I believe that Call of Duty is the best first person shooter franchise between the two. Simply because of its elegant simplicity that allows players to do what they want when they want.

There is a reason why during high stakes game battles they always choose Call of Duty as the game to play. You don't see many game battles where they play Battlefield, do you?
Anyways, I've made my point. Feel free to disagree with me by creating another post stating why Battlefield is better.

Bulliez

Everybody been bullied, rite? How many of you fought back? Probably most of you people. However there is a plethora of ways to scrutinize a bully without dropping to that level yourself.

Let's classify bullies into 3 groups
Cy:cyberbullies
Phy: physical bullies
Psy: Psychological bullies

Cybers are basically bullies over da interwebz. Physical bullies bully you with shoving, punching, etc. And psychological bullies use insults and whatnot.
Here are some ways to get rid/deal with bullies.

Ignoring. Works against cyberbullies and some psychological bullies
Just ignore them. Not that people may want to supress you even more if you present a challenge, i.e ignoring them. Usually, though, it's good online.

Insult them. Not all the time, but when they're pushing your buttons, an insult to shun them back may work. This works against some cyberbullies and, if it's a good one, psychological bullies.

Tell an adult. This is the most widely known yet one of the least practiced. Just tell an adult. This works for most physical bullies, most psychological bullies, and some cyberbullies. Usually this gets them to stop but over the web they can easily make another proxy and Ip and account, etc.

Self-defense. This is useless for cyberbullies and bad for psychological bullies but this is good for physical bullies. Learn kung fu or tai kwan do or watch some movies. Remember to use it only when you need to.

A combo attack. A good idea is to first agitate them when they're not bullying you. Then you can plainly explain everything that they're doing (e.g. Now you're doing this to pathetically try to make me react). This will make you seem smart and confident. Then if they try to annoy you just take in what they say, ignore it, and keep on annoying them. Pat them on the head or tickle their chin. Anything to show that you think this is a game. Then, if they threaten or try to harm you, go tell on them. If executed properly hilarity will ensue.

Now go tell off some bullies like a boss!

BANANAS!!!

Did you know that our modern day bananas, which are called dessert or Cavendish bananas, did not exist until 1836? Our bananas right now are very different from the wild bananas that are green with only it's seeds being edible. After a couple hundreds of year, those bananas slowly developed into what is know as the cooking banana or plantain. Those bananas were green and red and they had to be cooked before they can be eaten. During the year 1836, the Jamaican Jean Francois Poujot found one of the banana trees he owned was bearing yellow bananas. Those yellow bananas were sweeter and doesn't have to be cooked to be eaten. And so he started to breed just that one type of bananas and sent it to other banana farmers to grow. This is how our modern day banana grew.

Pre-Setting the locks

I've heard from people that they preset their locks, either they preset the first number or the furst two numbers. I think the most risky and efficient way is to preset everything. Just pull and it's open. There will be a very small chance that it is going to be opened by some other guy, because who will go around school and pull on people's locks?! If you want to be more safe, the preset the first two numbers. Just turn to the third number and it's opened. It's pointless to just preset one, so either two or three. It's a good way to do this between classes or right after lunch. (DISCLAIMER!!!I hold no responsibility for anybody that gets detention, sent to office, suspended, expelled, beaten up, executed, or any way he or she is being assaulted both physically and emotionally.)

Fate & Destiny

Because of Jerry, I'll post the difference between fate and destiny

Fate : Something that unavoidably befalls a person; the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events

Destiny : something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.

Basically, Fate is what is going to happen to a person of a thing, Destiny is what a person/thing is supposed to/ going to do. For example, your fate is to die, while your destiny may be to succeed.

Coincidence PART 3! :D

Since people wanted it more than Tesla (Sorry dude) I'm making more coincidence articles!

There were two Finnish identical twins, who were killed in the same accident on the same road doing the same thing 2 hours apart. Now this isn't mind-blowing, but it's strange.

In 1975 on a street in Bermuda, a man was crossing the street. He was hit and killed by a moped ( this bike thingy). One year later, the mans brother was killed in the same street, the same moped, the same driver, and the same PASSENGER. o_O

Joseph Aigner was a portrait painter in the 1900s in Austria who was quite depressed. He tried multiple times to commit suicide but was always saved by a Capuchin monk. At age 18, he tried to hang himself, but the monk saved him. At age 22 he tried to hang himself again but the monk saved him a second time. At age 30 he was sentenced to the gallows, pretty much signing his death contract. The monk interfered and convinced him to be released. At age 68, Aigner managed to do it, a pistol doing the trick. His funeral was conducted by...you guessed it, the same Capuchin monk.

In 1953, television reporter dude Irv Kupcinet was covering a big scoop - the coronation of Elizabeth II. He found some items that belonged to a certain Harry Hannin. Hannin was a famous basketball guy from the Harlem Globetrotters and Kupcinet knew him well. Before he could tell Hannin that he found his stuff, Hannin told Kupcinet that he had found Kupcinet's tie the same day!

In the late 1950s, George D. Bryson checked into a hotel while on a business trip. He was given room 307 and, after getting the key, checked the mail office to see if he had received any letters. There was a letter addressed to 307 to George D. Bryson. Apparently it was for the previous owner of the room, a man named George D.Bryson!

Two twins John and Arthur Mowforth lived about 80 miles apart in Great Britain. On the same day, the evening of May 22, 1975, both were severely ill from chest pains. Their families had no idea that they were sick, both were rushed to hospitals at around the same time, both died of heart attacks shortly after at the same time.

That's all I know, what series should I do next?

Nikola Tesla Part 2

So, moving on, Tesla was always conducting crazy experiments that resulted in catastrophe. One time he was studying magnetic resonance. He discovered the resonant frequency of the Earth and built a machine to harness it. It caused an earthquake so dangerous that it almost destroyed his 5th Avenue New York building in which he was conducting experiments on. When the cops were coming, Tesla had to smash his machine to prevent it from destroying his street. He later bragged that he could split the Earth in two, which is untrue, but back then nobody dared question him. Some time later, Tesla began the construction of the Wardenclyffe Tesla Tower, which is a curiously shaped building which would house the biggest Tesla coil in the world. It was supposed to wirelessly transmit power, and it was taken into consideration as the cause of the 1908 Tunguska explosion, when an unidentified source/object equal to ten megatons of blast rocketed the wastelands above Central Russia. It obliterated and deforested pretty much everything in sight for at least several hundred miles. And, to think, this guy could potentially detonated something 1000 times more powerful than Hiroshima before the submachine gun was even thought of.
Some time even later, Tesla made the first hydroelectric power plant by harnessing the rushing waters of Niagara Falls. Made a bath that cleans you with nothing but electricity, and set a world record for creating a 130 foot long bolt of lightning. But all stuff aside, his most epic invention was the Atomic Death Ray. Sometime in the 1920s he claimed that he was working on a tower that could spew a bunch of ionized particles in a beam that could disintegrate aircraft from 200 miles away. It could also wipe out a bunch of people in the blink of an eye. Luckily, Tesla died in 1940 before the thing was built, and there is no hard evidence that he was planning on making one, as most of his contraptions existed only in his awesome brain. Just to be safe, the FBI confiscated all of his stuff after he died and locked it away.
You ever heard of Thomas Edison? Well, he was actually competing against this guy. Thomas used direct currents, leading to the invention of the light bulb, and Tesla used alternate currents, leading to the main power source for pretty much every electronic in your home (even lightbulbs now). Unfortunetly, the fight between Tesla and Edison ended with both getting kicked out of the Nobel Prize committee.
To sum it up, Tesla was the thin line between a great scientific mind and mentally insane. At the time of his death, he had 700 patents, making breakthroughs in physics, robotics, steam turbine engineering, electricity, and magnetism. He once melted his assistants hand by spamming it with X-rays. And, to be honest, Tesla is just about the only dude who could single handedly blow up all of our minds with incredible scientific discoveries. The end, and you're welcome.

Nikolai Tesla Part 1

There were lots of super awesome people in this world. Me, for example. :3
However, almost nobody can compare to this ultra eccentric insane scientific super genius known as Nikolai Tesla. If you see him, you will literally explode into rubix cubes. (Nah I lied) He was Croatian born, an engineer, and he spoke 8 languages. Here is when the awesome jumps in. He almost single handedly harnessed electricity for household use. He invented FM radio, electrical generators, robots, remote control, florescent lights, spark plugs, and these giant machines that shoots lightning bolts all over the place. This guy had a flawless photographic memory and can even memorize the most complex pieces of machinery. He could do advanced calculus and physics in his head alone, he memorized entire books at a time, and he managed to succeed in experiments modern day science still couldn't pull off. Jealous yet? There's more. In 2007 the less awesome people at MIT got all excited when they wirelessly transmitted energy for an amazing 7 feet through the air. Nikolai, however, will probably laugh at these puny children. He once lit 200 lightbulbs from a power source 26 miles away, with a machine he made from spare parts in the desert. This happened in 1899. Umad?
Unfortunetly, there's always a bad side. Tesla was considered mental by some of his peers. He had nervous breakdowns, claimed to experience visions in the middle of the night, spoke to birds, and he occasionally said that he received electromagnetic signals from people on Mars.  He had OCD, (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and he hated round things, jewelry, human hair, and anything that cannot be divisible by 3. To sum it up, Nikolai was the ultimate mad scientist. BUT WAIT! There's even more...

Coincidence Part 2

MOAR COINCIDENCES!

Epic Porsche
In Sept. of 1955, a man named James Dean was killed in a terrible car crash in his Porsche (A sports car). Then people said it's bad luck.
When the car was being towed away, the engine slipped out and broke both of the mechanic's legs. The engine was then bought by a doctor, who put it inside his racing car. He died from a horrific car crash in that car. Another man died too, which was curious because HIS car had the Porsche's drive shaft.
After the Porsche was repaired, the garage of the repair crew burned down.
Then, in Sacremento, the car was on display. The car fell off the mount and broke a teenager's hip.
The trailer that the Porsche was carried in to the show slipped off and smashed the front of a shop.
Finally, in 1959, the car suddenly shattered into 11 pieces while it was on steel supports. Nobody knew how this happened.

Baby Fail
Somewhere in Detroit, in the 1930s, a guy named Joseph Figlock was walking down the street. A BABY fell out of the window on the third story and Joseph broke it's fall. Nobody was hurt.
An exact year later, unsuspecting Joseph was walking beneath the same building when the same baby fell out of the same window and again, nobody was hurt.

A Bullet's Destiny
Henry Ziegland was a lucky man. He broke up with his girlfriend, who, in dismay, killed herself. Her brother sought revenge, and shot Henry. He then shot himself out of guilt. Apparently, the bullet didn't even hit Henry. It grazed him and went into a nearby tree. A couple years later, Ziegland decided to cut down the tree, but he found out that dynamite would be more awesome. He blew up the tree, the bullet got blown out, and it lodged itself right into Ziegland's head. He died.

James and James
2 identical twins were born in Ohio. They were adopted by two differant families, now is where the weird part starts.
Both were named James.
Both sought law enforcement training.
Both were good at mechanical drawing and carpentry.
Both married someone called Linda.
Both had sons, one was named James Alan and the other James Allan.
Both divorced.
Both married a new wife called Betty.
Both had dogs named Toy.
40 years later, they reunited and discovered how similar their lives had been.

Unsuspecting Tipoff
Norman Mailer was an author. When he was working on his book Barbary Shore, he came up with an idea of a Russian spy in the US as a character. Soon the spy became more dominant in the novel, and Norman proudly finished his work. After the novel was published, U.S Immigration Service arrested the man who lived one floor above Mailer in the same apartment building. The guy was the top Russian spy in the US at that time.

Train
3 guys on a train. They started talking. One guy's name was Powell. Anothers was Bingham. The last one was Powell-Bingham. They weren't related and didn't know about each other.

21 is Unlucky
King Louis XVI was warned when he was a kid. An astrologer told him to be on guard on the 21st day of each month. He never did business on the 21st, but soon his guard went down. During the French Revolution, on June 21st 1791, Louis and his queen were arrested in Varennes. On September 21st, 1791, France became a republic. There goes the king status. On January 21st 1793 Louis XVI was killed by the guillotine.

Dreams

Dreams
Written by: Jessie
Edited by: Yueyang

Fine...

Dreams are strange. They say the more you think about a topic, the more likely you will dream about it. That's not really true. It's actually what you think of deep down in your mind....For example, Jerry thinks about pencils all day long. But, he has a crush on Shu Yan. (Kidding. Just needed to make an example) He doesn't usually think about her, but at night, he would dream about her because he likes her.
So, you can never really be sure of what you dream. If you try really hard not to think about.... A scary thing, for example, you might just end up dreaming about it....
At least.... That's my theory...
There are many different types of dreams. Some are humourous, some are sad.... And some are scary enough to be made into their own scary movie. Sometimes, there even seems to be a continuation of things that you dreamed before. Now, there are things called nightmares. Different people think different things are scary and terrifying. For example, some peoples nightmares are very gory and violent. My nightmares are just things that frustrate me alot. Or about people I love dying. Or something violent.
Now comment and discuss your dreams.

(Editors note: Leave personal stuff out of this.)

Coincidence? :]

Coincidence! o_O

Coincidences happen, whether something related to your conversation happens on cue or something plain strange happens. Here's some strange and mysterious coincidences.
Mark Twain was born on an appearance of Halley's Comet. He predicted that he'll die the next time it came. He was right.

In 1979, there was a writing competition that had to be based on real things. This guy named Walter Kellner won, with a story of him flying a Cessna 421 between Sardina and Sicily. He had engine problems, landed in the sea, and got rescued. Another dude called Walter Kellner called shenanigans, claiming plagiarism. He said he was flying a Cessna 421 over the same sea, with engine problems, but he landed in Sardina just in time. Both stories were true.

This is a well known one. Morgan Robertson wrote a novel called Futility in 1898 about a ship called the Titan crashing into an iceberg en route to New York and many dying because there weren't enough lifeboats. This actually happened except with a slightly differant name, the Titanic.
PLUS: She also wrote a novel called Beyond the Spectrum, which features sun bombs, bombs enough to blind anyone who looks at it and contains massive power. It starts with a surprise Japanese attack on Hawaii. The war is supposed to start in December of 2006. Fail

On July 28 1900, the Italian king Umberto I was having dinner at a restaurant. The restaurant owner was called Umberto, he looked extremely similar like Umberto, his wife had the same name as the queen, and the restaurant opened the same day as the kings inauguration. Umberto and Umberto were both shot dead the next day.

Claude Volbonne killed Baron Rodemire de Tarazone of France in 1872. After 21 years, the Baron's dad was killed by someone called Claude Volbonne.

A couple people in Ruthwell, Dumfriesshire were watching a scene in the film Around the World in 80 days, where a hot air balloon was taking off. Then the TV crashed as a hot air balloon collided with the power lines nearby.

A British cop called Major Summerfield, fought in Flanders Fields in 1918 where lightning hit him and he was paralyzed from waist down. He retired and moved to Vancouver. In 1924, he was hit by lightning again, paralyzing his right side. 2 years later he recovered and was walking in a park where he was struck by lightning AGAIN, permanently paralyzing him. He died 2 years later. Four years after his burial, lightning struck his tombstone. Shocking, eh?

A really long one is coming up.

2012

We're screwed, on Dec.21.
Here's some of the facts
MAIN CAUSES OF 2012 (Most believed)
Niburu, or Planet X, collides with Earth. (Niburu is 4x bigger, as people say). No scientific evidence.
End of the Mayan Calender. Strange, a calender for millenniums ends at 2012. No proof that a calender will blow us up, though.
Precession: Every year the sun moves across the sky, and every 25800 years something called precession happens. The sun is actually going backwards across the sky 1 degree every 72 years. In 25800 years, the sun moves 360 degrees back. This is just nice to know. :]
2012 marks the end of the degenerate age of the god Vishnu (Bhagavan)
Alignment of the sun, earth, and the supermassive black hole in our galaxy means certain death.
Geomagnetic reversal, which switches the north and south poles, releasing an energy equal to around 100 billion atomic bombs, screwing us over. Critics say they take 7000 years to complete and they can start whenever.

Do some research, find out more about why the world is (not) going to end.

Hell, Norway

Norway is an awesome country. However, there's a certain town thats...a bit strange. Enter Hell. Hell is usually a minor tourist spot because of it's name, and the town itself has around 1418 people, and the town is 1.48 sq kilometers. Hell has a grocery store, restaurant, retirement home, etc, making it no less than other towns with less awesome names. The origin of the name comes from an Old Norse word called "Hellir" which means overhang or cliff. The Norwegian word Hell means "luck". The Norwegian word for Hell is hellvete. In the winter, temperatures reach -20 C in the winter. Postcards and tourists make a visual joke about "Hell frozen over". The train station is called Hell Station, and is currently active. Plus, there's music festivals in Hell.
Mona Grudt, Miss Universe of 1990, listed herself as "The beauty Queen from Hell" as part of a publicity stunt.

Other cool names are : F*cking, Austria, (Where the * is replaced with an u) Condom, Gers (France), and Truth or Consequences, Mexico.

Did you know that El Pueblo Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula is a state in the USA? Guess which!

Boo

They say that every school has a legend. At night, the eyes of statues in front of the school will move. There will be twelve steps in the hallways, but at night, there will be thirteen.... The lights will not be on, even if you turn on the switch.... The faucets will drip blood, and sometimes an organ will fall out.... And if you go the washroom, you'll never come back.
Now, these kids didn't believe that....

"Oh, it's probably just a story..." They thought. So the all met together one night in front of the school. They looked at the statue. It's eyes were facing left, as always. "Hah, it's just a story." They thought. Then they went up to the school. There was a old night watchman in front of the school. "Don't go in...." He warned them, but they just laughed.
They first counted the stairs. "One, two, three....... Ten, eleven, twelve." "Hah," They thought, "It's just a story...."
Next they went to the faucets. They opened them and water gushed out. "Hah, it's just a story..." They thought. The light was opened, and soon they were ready to go home. However.....
One girl said, "I'll stay for a bit, you guys can go..."
The next day began with frantic phone calls. The mother of the girl who stayed was worried because her daughter didn't come home. The children told their parents what happened, and they rushed to the school to meet the principal.
At the school, the kids screamed as they saw the statue. It's eyes were facing the right. "They were facing the left last night!" They screamed.
Next came the stairs. "One, two, three..... Eleven, twelve, thirteen...." The kids screamed,"It was twelve last night!"
Then were the faucets. They all held their breaths as the principal turned them on. Blood gushed out of the faucets as a large liver plopped into the basin. They all screamed.
The came the search for the girl. The found her hanging, dead, in a bathroom stall.
"When we came last night, we turned the lights on and everything was normal!" The kids cried. "Lights...?" he adults gasped in horror, "There was a blackout last night..."
The kids cried, "We should have listened to the night watchman...."
"What?" The principal asked, "There is no night watchman...."

Aspergers Syndrome

As some of you know, Shawn in our class has Aspergers Syndrome. It's a form of autism that affects the cognitive development and language. Basically people with aspergers are interested in unique things, and usually use atypical and formal language. The exact cause is unknown, so please don't make fun of Shawn, because it's not his fault he's off topic/ ununderstanding.

Criminals who actually managed to get away

Nowadays, with trained policemen, CCTV, fingerprint scanners, DNA evidence, CSi, being a successful criminal is almost impossible. However, there are rare events where crime does pay, and the criminals made off with valuable stuff.

The French Vacuum Gang
All the way back in 2006, a couple of French robbers exploited a weakness in the way a store called the "Monoprix" stored it's cash. It had tubes that flushed the money into the safe. The safe is good, but the tubes were not. The vacuum gang broke in and drilled into a tube. Then they hooked up a vacuum into the tube, and sucked up all the cash instead. As of 2011, they made off with 800000$ and the only CCTV tapes were a couple of blurry masked dudes. o_O

Credit Lyonnais Paris Heist

On March 30, 2010, burglars got into the Credit Lyonnais bank in central Paris, and emptied over 100 safety deposit boxes, and got away with millions of euros and valuables. The burglars tunneled into the basement from a parallel cellar, and got inside with a thermal cutter. They tied up the guard and told him not to move. This section was closed for renovations. For a couple hours, they ransacked the bank, and set it on fire.
The sprinklers went off, and the tied up guard managed to raise the alarm. The thieves got away, and probably will get away for good because, well, the fire got rid of all the evidence. The whole operation took 9 hours.

Paris Modern Art Fail

Simple stuff, a burglar broke into a window of the Paris Modern Art Museum (Which, surprisingly, had no alarms) and made off with around 100 million euros worth in masterpieces such as Picasso and Matisse.

Albert Spaggiari

(Taken from an article)
Albert Spaggiari was a French career criminal who is best known for masterminding the Societe Generale bank robbery in France, 1976. As a young man he committed his first robbery in order to impress his girlfriend, but was soon captured and imprisoned. After his release and having served in the French military, Spaggiari became the owner of a photographic studio and was making a reasonable living as a law-abiding citizen. However, he apparently became bored with his middle-class life and sought to return to a life of crime.
He began to plan a break-in at the Societe Generale Bank, in Nice. He decided that, since the bank vault was located in the basement, the break-in would best be achieved by digging underneath from a nearby sewer system. He opened a box for himself and placed a loud alarm clock inside, setting it to go off at midnight in order to check for the existence any acoustic or seismic detectors that might foil his plan. In fact, the bank vault had no interior alarm or security systems, as it was considered utterly impenetrable.
Spaggiari then recruited a group of professional gangsters from Marseille to help him dig the tunnel. He instructed them to never drink coffee or alcohol, and always to get at least 10 hours sleep every day to avoid danger to the mission. After two months of digging, the tunnel was finished, and, during a Bastille Day festival when the bank was closed for a long weekend, the gang broke into the vault, itself. They opened up over 400 safety deposit boxes, stealing over 60million francs worth of money, securities and other valuables.
When the robbery was discovered, the following message was found on the vault wall: “sans armes, ni maine, ni violence” which is translated as: “without weapons, nor hatred, nor violence”. At first police were baffled, however, in the following months they arrested one suspect on a tip from a former girlfriend. The man later admitted being a part of the robbery and ratted out the entire gang, including Spaggiari. During his trial, however, Spaggiari managed to escape by distracting the judge, by handing him a fake piece of encoded evidence. He jumped out of the window, where a motorcycle was waiting for him and made his getaway.
He was never caught and the loot from the heist was never found. He died at the age of 52 of throat cancer, and his body was found dumped outside his mother’s house, presumably by unknown friends.
